Bluestone Foundation fundraisers complete their Pembrokeshire Coast Path challenge
There were blisters and bruises but plenty of beaming smiles as a team of charity walkers from Bluestone National Park Resort finished an epic 186-mile hike.
The Bluestone employees tackled the entire length of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path in 12 days of clifftop climbs, seaside steps, and muddy marches.
Starting way up in St Dogmaels on September 26, the team finished in Amroth on October 6 after tackling 35,000ft of ascents and descents - said to be roughly the equivalent of climbing Everest.
The group of hardy hikers was raising money for the Bluestone Foundation, a charity set up by the resort that aims to help people in Pembrokeshire help themselves by supporting environmental, economic, and social projects in the county.
Pamela McNamara, Bluestone Foundation founder, and the resort’s Commercial Director was one of the teams taking on the challenge.
She said: “Taking on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path in 12 days was an extreme but exciting challenge with an amazing team effort.
“The long days and mileage were tough, but we were constantly rewarded by the most beautiful views and landscapes which helped us all on the journey, as well as the belief in the Foundation and the work that it does.”
The Bluestone Foundation was established in 2010 and is entirely funded by donations from resort guests and fund-raising. Tens of thousands of pounds have been raised since its inception, with this year’s challenge raising £8000 to date, all of which will be donated to projects and groups across Pembrokeshire.
